Why Upper House Hong Kong is our pick

Upper House Hong Kong, The Upper House until October 2025, is the Swire Hotels house that gave the Upper House brand its name. It fills floors 38 to 49 of a tower above the Pacific Place mall in Admiralty, with Admiralty MTR station, where four lines meet, beneath the complex and Central minutes away. Its 117 rooms start with the Studio 70, at 68 m²: the hotel calls its rooms the largest in Hong Kong, and no hotel of this ranking publishes a larger entry room. It holds 2 Michelin Keys and has been in the top 10 of The World's 50 Best Hotels every year from 2023 to 2026, at No. 8 in 2026.

Its limits are plain. There is no pool and no spa: treatments are given in the room. None of its restaurants holds a Michelin star, and Forbes Travel Guide rates it Four-Star, where six hotels of this list are Five-Star. The calculated criteria of this page reward pools, spas and starred restaurants, and several hotels score higher on them; if one of those comes first, book Rosewood, Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental The Landmark.

Hong Kong Island or Kowloon?

Seven of the twelve hotels are on Hong Kong Island. Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Mandarin Oriental The Landmark and The Murray are in Central, the business district on the island's northern shore, which looks across Victoria Harbour to Kowloon. Upper House and Island Shangri-La share Pacific Place in Admiralty, the eastern extension of Central, and The Hari sits between Wan Chai and Causeway Bay. From the Central hotels, the offices, Lan Kwai Fong, Tai Kwun, PMQ and Hong Kong Park are within walking distance.

Five are in Kowloon. The Peninsula and Regent are on Salisbury Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. Rosewood and K11 ARTUS share Victoria Dockside, built on the former Holt's Wharf, with the Avenue of Stars along the harbour in front. The Ritz-Carlton fills floors 102 to 118 of the International Commerce Centre in West Kowloon, the district of M+ and the Hong Kong Palace Museum. From Kowloon, the rooms that face the water look at the Hong Kong Island skyline.

What Michelin Keys and Forbes stars tell you

The Michelin Guide awards one to three Keys to the hotels its inspectors judge most outstanding, the hotel counterpart of its restaurant stars. Ten Hong Kong hotels hold Keys in the 2026 selection. Rosewood is the only one with three; Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental The Landmark, Upper House and The Peninsula hold two; Mandarin Oriental, The Murray and The Ritz-Carlton hold one, as do The St. Regis and Hotel ICON, which are not in this ranking. Regent, Island Shangri-La, The Hari and K11 ARTUS have none.

Forbes Travel Guide sends anonymous inspectors, who check up to 900 criteria, and rates hotels Five-Star, Four-Star or Recommended. For 2026, The Peninsula, Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Mandarin Oriental The Landmark, The Ritz-Carlton and Regent are Five-Star; Upper House, Island Shangri-La and The Murray are Four-Star; Rosewood is Recommended. The lists do not agree: Rosewood holds three Keys and is No. 1 in The World's 50 Best Hotels 2026 but sits at the third Forbes level, and Regent is Five-Star without a Key.

Which Hong Kong hotels have the biggest rooms?

Upper House has the largest entry rooms of the ranking: the Studio 70 measures 68 m², the Studio 80 78 m². Rosewood starts at 53 m², The Ritz-Carlton at 50 m² and K11 ARTUS, where every studio has a kitchen, at 47 m². Then come Mandarin Oriental The Landmark (42 m²), Island Shangri-La (41 m²), Four Seasons (39 m²) and The Murray (38 m²); the smallest are at Mandarin Oriental (35 m²), Regent (30 m²) and The Hari (25 m²). We could not confirm the size of The Peninsula's entry rooms.

The largest suite is Rosewood's Harbour House, 1,000 m² on the 57th floor. Regent's Presidential Suite measures 650 m², with a private infinity pool, and its CEO Suite 381 m²; The Peninsula Suite measures 377 m², and The Ritz-Carlton Suite, on the 117th floor, 365 m². At Upper House, the largest, the Penthouse and the André Fu Suite, measure 182 m² each.

Pools and spas

Upper House has neither: treatments are given in the room, and the wellness offer is a 24-hour gym and weekend yoga on The Lawn, its garden terrace on level 6. The Hari has no pool or spa either, and K11 ARTUS has a 25 m outdoor pool, a sauna and steam rooms, but no spa. Regent has an outdoor pool on its third-floor terrace and infinity spa pools at three temperatures over the harbour, but no spa open.

The largest spas are at Four Seasons, 2,044 m² with 17 treatment rooms, and four pools including an infinity pool on a terrace facing the harbour, and The Peninsula, with 14 treatment rooms and an 18 m Roman-style indoor pool on the 8th floor. Both spas are Forbes Five-Star, like those of Mandarin Oriental and The Ritz-Carlton. For swimming outdoors, Island Shangri-La has the longest pool published, 28.5 m on level 8, and Rosewood a 25 m infinity pool on the 6th floor, first come, first served. The Ritz-Carlton's indoor infinity pool is on the 118th floor.
