A luxury hotel room in Hong Kong starts at around 40 m². The smallest is 25 m² (270 sq ft) at The Hari in Wan Chai, the largest 68 m² (730 sq ft) at Upper House Hong Kong in Admiralty.

Regent (30 to 38 m²), Mandarin Oriental (35 to 40 m²) and The Ritz-Carlton (from about 50 m²) publish ranges: the table gives the lower figure. K11 ARTUS, a hotel residence that rents apartments by the night, publishes square feet only. The Peninsula's room pages could not be read; its smallest category with an official size is the Superior Harbour View Suite, 82 m². At The Landmark, 167 m² is the largest size published, for the Entertainment Suite.

What you get by moving up a category

At some hotels, the next category up adds little or no floor space. It buys a view, a balcony or club access.

  • Rosewood Hong Kong: the Grand Harbour View Room, the Club Grand Harbour View Room and the Club Grand Harbour Balcony Room, which comes with an 11 m² balcony, are all listed at 53 m². More space means a suite, from 92 m².
  • Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong: after the 35 m² City View Room, the Superior, Deluxe City View, Premier Harbour View and Club Harbour View rooms all measure 40 m², the Club Mandarin Room 44 m². The City View Suite jumps to 72 m².
  • Island Shangri-La: the Deluxe Peak View, Grand Premier and Horizon Peak View rooms measure 41 m², the Deluxe Harbour View Room 44 m². The Executive Suite is 82 m².

At others, each step adds space.

  • Mandarin Oriental The Landmark: from the L450 Superior, 42 m² (450 sq ft), to the L600 rooms, 56 m² (600 sq ft), which have a curved, glass-walled bathroom with a seven-foot round bathtub.
  • The Murray: Superior Room 38 m², N1 Deluxe 47 m², N2 Grand and N3 Grand Deluxe 50 m², Explorer Suite 75 m².
  • Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong: Superior Harbour-View Room 39 m², Deluxe Peak-View and Deluxe Harbour-View rooms 45 m², suites from 68 m².
  • Regent Hong Kong: Classic Room from 30 m², Harbourview rooms of 38 and 43 m², suites from 47 m², Corner Suite 100 m².

Upper House Hong Kong: 68 m² from the first room

Upper House Hong Kong, our pick in Hong Kong, has the largest entry room in our guide. Its Studio 70 measures 68 m² (730 sq ft) and Studio 80 78 m². The Upper Suites are 114 m², and the two largest suites, the two-bedroom Penthouse and the one-bedroom André Fu Suite, are 182 m² each. Swire Hotels counts 117 rooms, 21 of them suites.

The hotel goes further. In its 15th-anniversary release of December 2024, Swire Hotels says the rooms "begin at 720 square feet" and are "the largest in Hong Kong". That claim is the hotel's: we have not measured every hotel in the city. In our guide, the next-largest entry room, Rosewood's, is 15 m² smaller.

The house was converted in 2009 from The Atrium, serviced apartments above Pacific Place, and every room is at least 38 storeys up. Studio 70 rooms face the mountain or the harbour, Studio 80 rooms the city and the mountain.

Its limits: there is no pool and no spa, only treatments in the room, and the 182 m² top suites are smaller than the largest suites of nine other hotels in the table.

The largest suites

Rosewood Hong Kong's Harbour House, on the 57th floor, measures 1,000 m² (10,760 sq ft), the largest suite in our guide. Regent Hong Kong's Presidential Suite, 650 m², has its own infinity pool, and the hotel also lists a Terrace Suite of 510 m². The Peninsula Suite, 377 m², is on the top floor of The Peninsula Tower; The Ritz-Carlton Suite, 365 m², is on the 117th floor of the International Commerce Centre.

Budget and mid-range rooms

Below the luxury tier, rooms shrink. On Accor's official pages:

Four hotels do not make a city average. They show the gap: the 25 m² entry room at The Hari, the smallest of our 12, is larger than the entry rooms at both ibis hotels and at AKI.

Before you book

When a hotel gives a range, plan on the lower figure. Sizes can also lag behind a renovation: Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong reopened its rooms on 1 October 2026, with work due to end in the last quarter of 2026, and its published sizes may predate the refresh. For a long stay, Upper House Hong Kong also sells one- to three-bedroom serviced suites in Pacific Place Apartments.
